Demitrius Conger has excelled in the game of basketball, and is advancing to the next level in his career as a professional basketball player. Before he was an international basketball star, he had humble beginnings at Covenant Christian Ministries Academy!
Demitrius Conger, a graduate of St. Bonaventure University (2013) has played with several professional teams across the world including the Antwerp Giants of Belgium, the Illawarra Hawks of Australia, and Joventut Badalona of Spain. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Conger played three of his four years of high school at Covenant being trained, groomed, and coached by Frederick T. Anderson, Sr. While in high school he averaged 18 points per game as a junior in 2007–08 en route to leading the Crusaders to a 20–9 record and a National Association of Christian Athletes (NACA) Elite League Championship. As a senior in 2008–09, he averaged 24 points per game and was named to the NACA All-Tournament team.
Conger will be joining the Boston Celtics in the 2018 NBA Summer League. With Demitrius in the forward position, the Celtics are set to take the floor tonight against the Charlotte Hornets. We'll be cheering you on, Demitrius! It looks like the Crusaders just got a new favorite team!

Conger spent four years at St. Bonaventure from the 2009-10 season through the 2012-13 season. During his senior campaign, he was the only Atlantic 10 player to lead his team in points, rebounds and assists. Since then, he's been overseas. This past year, he turned in an All-Star year for the Illawarra Hawks of the Australian National Basketball League. Conger also finished second in NBL Most Valuable Player voting on the back of 19.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals per tilt while shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from deep. Now 28 years old, he'll look to make an impact in the NBA.
Conger to Play for Boston Celtics in Summer League

All-NBL First Team forward Demitrius Conger will play for the Boston Celtics at next month’s NBA Summer League.
Conger will be making his debut at the Las Vegas tournament, five years after going undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft.
“It’s a blessing,” Conger told NBL Media.
“It’ll be my first Summer League so I’m really excited about it.”
The opportunity comes on the back of Conger’s outstanding 2017-18 NBL season with the Illawarra Hawks and an impressive three-month stint in the Spanish ACB.
The 28-year-old finished second in voting for the 2018 NBL Most Valuable Player, behind Perth’s Bryce Cotton, after averaging 19.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game for the Hawks.
He then helped ACB team Joventut avoid relegation alongside new Breakers' import Partrick Richard, putting up seven double-digit scoring performances across his final ten games.
Conger said he’ll be looking to showcase his natural game at Summer League in the hopes of securing an NBA contract.
“I’m just going to approach it like every other basketball game,” he said.
“Just try to be aggressive, stick to the things I do well and be the best player I can be – on and off the court. Just be myself.”
Conger played his college ball at St. Bonaventure in the NCAA’s Atlantic 10 Conference and played professionally in Italy, Greece, and Belgium before joining the Hawks last year.
He participated in three free agent mini-camps earlier this month, working out with the Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs.
Much like former NBL star Torrey Craig, who last year played his way into a two-way deal with the Denver Nuggets, Conger believes he’s more prepared to make the NBA now than when he came out of college five years ago.
“I’ve definitely picked up some things playing overseas that I didn’t have coming out of college,” he said.
“Things like how to approach the game, maturity… they’re definitely things that you pick up along the way.
“Especially being around guys who have played in the NBA and guys that have played EuroLeague. I would say I’m more seasoned.”
Conger remains unsigned ahead of the 2018-19 NBL season, despite confirming recently that he and his agent had been in discussions with numerous teams.
For now, though, his focus will be on making the most of his first Summer League experience.
The Celtics will begin their Las Vegas schedule on July 6 with a match-up against the Philadelphia 76ers, who will likely feature Australian forward Jonah Bolden. They will then play the Nuggets on July 7 before facing the Charlotte Hornets on July 9.
After their initial three games, all teams will then be seeded into a tournament which will culminate in a Championship Game being played on July 17.
